190206 NoLongerStrangers_AuteurJaved Masih, student in the one-year Master program “Peace, Trauma, Religion” of the VU-Faculty of Religion and Theology (2016-2017), has published the personal story of his small family. They arrived at Schipol in 2014, seeking refuge and safety from the threats they faced in Pakistan as a Christian family. It is a journey of hope and fear, joy and frustration, engagement and disappointment. The question mark might be the most important element of the title of this book "No Longer Strangers?".

‘This book clearly shows on which points the COA, the IND and the Repatriation & Departure Service could humanise their working methods with a few simple measures, because despite the many good things they do, very poignant aspects are revealed, of which I am deeply ashamed as a Dutchman! I heartily recommend this book to you to gain some insight into the circumstances that so many refugees face daily’, according to Hans van Delft Chairman IWAK in Katwijk aan Zee.
