On 10 December, PThU will organise a special academic event about the importance of genderstudies. This afternoon will give you some pearls, showing how gender studies are an important part of theology and history. Mini lectures will be given by esteemed gender studies scholars and there will be time for reflection and discussion on the different topics around gender.

  • Prof. Esther Mombo is associate professor in theology at St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya. Her lecture will be about: '”Saved and Safe”: Women Culture and Well Being in the Church’
  • Prof. Bat-Sheva Margalit Stern is associate professor of history at the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, Israel. She will lecture about: ‘Killing Softly with Words: Current Politics, Past Narratives, and Herstory in Present-Day Israel’
  • Prof. Nicola Slee is professor of feminist practical theology at VU Amsterdam and also Director of Research at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education in Birmingham, UK. Her lecture will be about: ‘Prayer, Gender, and the Body: Feminist Liturgical Pearls of Practice’
  • Prof. Heleen Zorgdrager is professor of systematic theology and genderstudies at the Protestant Theological University in Amsterdam. She will lecture about: ‘Polarisation on Gender and Sexuality in Europe: Theological Anthropology as a Third Space?’
